The U.S. – Mexico border has seen a big influx of migrants in the last months, for Immigration nonprofits that have also mean an increase of work in the middle of a Pandemic crisis.
For that reason, the city of Brownsville has been allowing NGOs to rent out former storefronts across the bus station where many immigrants arrive.
Just this week Brownsville city commissioners vote in favor of allowing six migrant organizations to rent out former retail spaces for a fraction of the real value.
Mexican Humanitarian Organizations say they have noticed an increase in migrants, but that they do not have the resources or space to give them shelter.
