Valley International Airport adds flights

As Texas leases on COVID 19 safety measures, Harlingen Valley International Airport has announced added flights to its schedule.

American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Sun Country Airlines, and United Airlines have all added flights to better serve the Rio Grande Valley community.

Some of the flights will serve for quicker connections on national and international flights, like American Airlines added Chicago nonstop flight, another AA flight for convenience of travelers will be its 4th daily frequency to Dallas/Ft. Worth.

“The times are excellent for domestic and international connections out of the carrier’s largest hub and also provides excellent same day business trips to the Metroplex for RGV residents”,

added José A. Mulet, director of air service development at VIA.

Another carrier adding frequency is United Airlines, adding its 4th daily flight to Houston.

“As more Americans receive the COVID vaccine, more and more are beginning to plan their summer trips. VIA is ready to welcome the added passenger traffic and now has a total of 9 venues available for them to enjoy: two downstairs and seven upstairs, including a bar, gift shop, and restaurant in the north and south concourse. Our US Customs facility is also ready to process the arrival of general aviation traffic between the hours of 7a-10pm MO-FR,”

said Marv Esterly, director of aviation at VIA.
