Elon Musk, Tesla CEO tweeted today “You can now buy a Tesla with bitcoin. Bitcoin paid to Tesla will be retained as Bitcoin, not converted to fiat currency.”
This new payment method is now only being implemented in the United States but it is expected that the option will be available in other countries later this year.
Tesla purchased $1.5 billion of bitcoin last month making the price of the world’s most popular cryptocurrency rise.
Musks has promoted bitcoin in the past, criticizing cash and its use.
