RGV will receive more than 35,000 COVID vaccines this week

Starting today, all adults in Texas are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine, meaning anyone 16 years and older who wants to get a vaccine will be able to get it.

According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, the state will receive more than 1 million first doses this week, and the Rio Grande Valley will be receiving more than 35,000 of those doses.

Cameron County will receive 9,100 vaccines including 300 unique doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccines; Hidalgo County will receive 23,040 first dose vaccines from Moderna and Pfizer; Starr County will receive 1,600 vaccines including 400 unique doses of Johnson & Johnson, and Willacy County will receive 2,300 vaccines including 300 unique doses of Johnson and Johnson vaccine.
