Police Departments all over the U.S. have been looking for ways to keep officers and the public safe, with fewer casualties and claims of police brutality, the Pharr Police Department has become the first to receive a new non-lethal tool for apprehending a suspect while responding to a mental health call.

Pharr PD unveiled the BoloWrap a non-lethal weapon that shoots an eight-fool-long Kevlar tether that wraps around the suspect and a blank bullet to disorient it.

This type of weapon will allow Police offices a chance to use less-lethal force on a suspect.

“It gives officers more options and hopefully decreases the amount of times officers have to use lethal force,” Pharr police Chief Andy Harvey Jr. said.
