RGV hospital, Harlingen Medical Center has received a 5-star rating award from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
The only hospital in the Rio Grande Valley with this award is HMC and is one of the 24 hospitals state-wide that received this award by the CMS, a part of the Department of Health and Human Services.
This award reviews five aspects of quality of care, including mortality, the safety of care, readmission, patient experience, and timely and effective care, at each hospital.
Harlingen Medical Center CEO Matt Wolthoff pointed to the hospital’s culture as a reason for this achievement.
“We really try to create an atmosphere as a family, and I think it’s engrained in Harlingen Medical Center’s cultural to treat each other like family and really take care of each other.”
