COVID-19 report: Cameron County reports 56 new cases

Cameron County reported 56 positive COVID-19 cases and one coronavirus-related death.

One man died as a result of COVID-19, according to a release by the County.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Cameron County Health has reported 1,599 coronavirus-related deaths.

Since the pandemic started, 39,497 people in Cameron County have tested positive.

Vaccination in the County is ongoing, all adults are eligible for the vaccine in the state, fear for vaccination because of 8 isolated cases of clots after the Johnson & Johnson vaccine have to begin to lower the numbers of residents getting the vaccine.  

Health officials have paused the use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine and have assured the current vaccines (Moderna and Pfizer) are safe for all adults 16 and older.
