McAllen COVID-19 vaccination clinic closed early because of low turnout

The City of McAllen, in partnership with Hidalgo County Precinct 2 Commissioner Eduardo ” Eddie” Cantu and Ellie Torres – Hidalgo County Commissioner Pct. 4, in conjunction with the McAllen Independent School District and the Texas National Guard, announced, a first dose COVID-19 Moderna vaccine clinic for Friday, April 16 morning, however, residents hesitancy of getting the vaccine has grown and due to low turnout, the clinic was closed.

The clinic had 2,000 Moderna first dose COVID-19 vaccine and was located at the McAllen Convention Center, according to Xochitl Mora McAllen city spokeswoman the clinic was shut down at 2:00 pm, it was scheduled to stay open until all vaccines were administrated. 

The remaining vaccines will be used at a future vaccine clinic to be held by Hidalgo County.
