Trump Administration ended when the famous wall construction was underway, this left the Rio Grande Valley unprotected since this construction leave breaches in their levee system.
After local leaders asked the Biden Administration to repair the system before hurricane season, this Friday the Department of Homeland Security announced that they will repair breeches in the levee along the Rio Grande in southwestern Hidalgo County.
“DHS will start work to quickly repair the flood barrier system to protect border communities,” the department announced in a news release. “This work will not involve expanding the border barrier.
Details of when the repairs will begin were not given but they are expected before June, which is the beginning of hurricane season.
