The South of Texas Board of Trustee has voted to pay the outstanding debt of nearly 3,500 students, using pandemic-relief money.

This will qualify for debt from students from last fall and spring semesters, hence the use of pandemic relief budget, according to officials.

The college plans to spend more than $1.9 million to pay out those accounts and give students a clean slate.

School representatives will directly notify students with qualifying accounts.
