Gov. Greg Abbott held a border security meeting over the weekend with some County sheriffs, but Rio Grande Valley’s sheriffs were not included.

In the meeting Gov. Abbott and sheriffs in attendance discuss border security and his plans to arrest migrants for breaking state human smuggling and trespassing laws.

Sheriffs that were present at the meeting represented Culberson County, Summit County, Goliad County, Kinney County, Lubbock County, McMullen County, Presidio County, Val Verde County, Zapata County, and Zavala County.

Most sheriffs present at the meeting were either Democrats or from rural counties looking for greater help from the state.
