Hidalgo County reports seven coronavirus-related deaths

Hidalgo County has reported 349 new positive cases of COVID-19, and seven coronavirus-related deaths.

Two Donna residents, two Weslaco residents, an Alamo resident, a Mission resident and a San Juan resident died as a result of the virus.

The death toll since the COVID-19 pandemic began is at 2,974 people who have died because of coronavirus.

From the 349 cases reported 163 are confirmed and 186 are probable, according to the news release. 

There are currently 380 COVID-19 patients in Hidalgo County hospitals, with 98 of those in the ICU. 

Vaccination is still ongoing for Cameron County; experts recommend getting the vaccine if you meet the age and health requirements.
